Any business in the world can request a DUNS Number which is used to to identify and track a business. DUNS stands for Data Universal Numbering System, a system which became available in 1963 to make credit reporting easier. You can request a Duns Number from Dun & Bradstreet.

In order to build a PAYDEX Score a Duns Number is required. Some lenders or credit providers may also require a business to have a DUNS Number in order to qualify. As a business owner it is good practice to have a DUNS Number and be able to provide it when needed.
